Carbon is what makes a modern hockey stick stiff, light and powerful. But not all carbon is the same. The type of carbon decides the balance between power, control, weight and feel. Here is what the names on Brabo sticks mean.
The carbon types
X-Fusion Carbon
Our most advanced carbon technology. Different carbon weaves combined in a unique X-pattern give the right balance between stiffness and flex. Maximum power when hitting, excellent feel on reception and passing. You find it in the Elite Hyper Torsion Box X-Bow and the Elite X One.

Forged Carbon
Chopped carbon fibres are pressed under high pressure in a mould with resin. Unlike layered carbon sheets, this creates a strong, light material with a distinctive irregular pattern. Extremely strong, stiff and light, with great stability in heavy play and powerful hits. Used in the Elite Two, Elite Three and Elite Four WTB.

12K Carbon
A fine woven structure that increases stiffness. More power, cleaner passes and improved accuracy, with a premium, modern look. Used in the Traditional 100 and Traditional 90.

3K Carbon
Bundles of 3,000 fibres. Light, durable and easy to handle, with a good mix of power and feel. Used in the Traditional 80 and the Pure 60.

Carbon
A great balance of power, control and durability. More power than a full glass fibre stick, while staying forgiving and easy to handle. Found in the Elite Five WTB, Tribute and the Pure 40 and 20.
What does the carbon percentage mean?
The percentage tells you how much of the stick is carbon. The higher it is, the stiffer the stick, with more power and response. A lower percentage gives a softer touch and more forgiveness.
- Rating 10 to 6, Expert: high stiffness, maximum power and responsiveness.
- Rating 5 to 3, Intermediate: a balanced blend of power and control for players who are progressing.
- Rating 2 to 1, Beginner: soft touch and forgiveness to build the basics.
Torsion technology: WTB and Hyper Torsion Box
Stiffness is not only about carbon. The shape of the shaft matters too.
- Wave Torsion Box (WTB): a wave-shaped shaft structure that increases torsional stiffness. It limits twisting on powerful hits and off-centre contact, for more control and consistent performance. In all Elite WTB sticks.
- Hyper Torsion Box: the successor of the Wave Torsion Box. Absorbs off-centre hits and reduces twisting even further, for a cleaner ball feel and harder, more accurate shots.
